Verre Eglomisé is the French term for reverse painted and gilded glass. Although the origins of this technique can be traced back to Egyptian and Roman antiquity, the technique was revived in the 18th century. Gold leaf and hand painting under glass provides a reflectivity and beauty unseen in other art forms.
